Week 8
Here comes the distribution day. For me, I went for the 17th May distribution day with Street Feeders. Street Feeders is NGO that organize the charity event and help the needy.
We are required to meet up the roundabout before 9.00p.m. We reach there around 8.30 but we couldn't find a parking for us to park our car as the place are actually strange for us. We finally found a parking space after 9.00p.m. and the parking is 10 minutes walking distance away from the meeting point. When we reach the meeting point is already around 9.20p.m. The others are ready to walk to the place where all the homeless will appear. There are hundreds of people on that distribution day, and we are divide to different checkpoint.
For me and one of my groupmates didn't follow the pack to walk to some distribution item problem cause miscommunication. We settle up the problem then we start walking to the checkpoint, but the before the walk there another classmate call us and she just reach the meet up point, so we 3 walk to the checkpoint which is around 2km away from the base. Its around 10p.m. at night and its very dark and its quite danger for us to walk there without the group together. When we reach the checkpoint, we start to talk to the homeless around and understanding their situation, but most of out topic goes to his lifestyle and the distribution items that we prepared for them.
After having a short interactive with the homeless, we gather up and talk about the overall feel of the night then we start walk back to the base, walking back to then base is much more safer because we are now with the groups. After we reach the base, we ask for the Street Feeders member to get a photo with us to end our task.
